Eyelid surgery: The procedure
Upper eyelids
Local anaesthetic is injected under the skin. The injection may sting a little. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, you feel very little of the procedure. The plastic surgeon makes an incision in the crease of the eyelid and removes excess skin, fat and possibly muscle tissue. The wound is then very carefully stitched and protected with small plasters. The fine scars are concealed in the crease of the upper eyelid. Eyelid surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and is usually completed in approximately 30 minutes.
