Eyelid surgery

The day of the procedure

We will schedule your eyelid surgery at a time that suits your agenda. The procedure can be performed in the evening or on the weekend if this is more convenient.

On the day of the procedure you are greeted at reception and invited to take a seat in our waiting room. Here you will be served a cup of coffee and asked to fill in a consent form.

When it is your turn, the plastic surgeon will come to find you. Our medical team (an assistant, an operating theatre assistant and a plastic surgeon) explain each part of the procedure as they go along so you always know what to expect.

Immediately after eyelid surgery

Immediately after the procedure you continue to relax in your comfortable treatment chair with a cold gel eye mask on. We can put your favorite music on. You can go home about half an hour after the procedure. We ask you to ensure that someone is there to escort you. You are not permitted to drive.

The cold gel eye mask, developed especially for the VandenBroecke Kliniek, is most effective during the first 48 hours after the procedure. We recommend that you use the cold gel eye mask 4 to 6 times a day. It helps to reduce swelling in the surrounding tissues.

You take the cold gel eye mask home with you, so you can continue to apply a cold compress to the area affected by the surgery. Above all, this helps you relax.

You can book a consultation appointment online or by phone.

After the procedure

After eyelid surgery your eyes may feel slightly dry, or, alternatively, they may be more watery than usual. You are unlikely to feel any pain. If you do experience some discomfort, paracetamol should be all you need (no aspirine!)

You are unlikely to feel any pain after the procedure. After the procedure you are given a telephone number so you can contact us at any time, 24 hours a day, should you need to.
