Dr. Martine van Huizum From 1991 to 1998, I studied medicine at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam. I then completed my specialization in plastic surgery at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam in 2004. I spent about a year and a half as a staff member at Erasmus MC before returning to Amsterdam in mid-2007 to work at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Antoni van Leeuwenhoek). There, I perform reconstructive surgery either directly after oncological surgery or after recovery from cancer treatment. The ongoing challenge is always to find the best possible balance between a quick recovery and a good quality of life for the patient. In 2015, I joined the VandenBroecke Clinic — a wonderful opportunity to focus on eyelid surgery!
