Dr. Jacqueline Bastiaanse After completing my medical studies in Leiden and my specialization in Plastic Surgery at the university clinics of Maastricht and Aachen, I spent a year and a half in Melbourne, Australia. There, I pursued a fellowship in microsurgery at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery, in collaboration with St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Since then, eyelid surgery has been a significant part of my specialization as a plastic surgeon. Back in Europe, I worked in various academic hospitals in the Netherlands and Switzerland, including the Inselspital Bern university hospital. Since 2016, I have been working at GKH (Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus) Havelhöhe in Berlin, an anthroposophical hospital where the patient as a whole is the focal point. In addition to specialized care, supplementary therapies such as music therapy are also offered here. My experiences in the Berlin hospital have inspired me in a personal approach. I find it valuable to combine specialized eyelid surgery with a focus on the patient as a whole, uniting body, soul, and mind. I am a member of the NVPC, Ärztekammer Berlin, ASRM (American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery), and a FEBOPRAS Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
